A week to progress in the water
A surf camp in Essaouira can start in the bay to work on the basics, then progress to Sidi Kaouki or Imsouane depending on your level and the conditions. The bay gives regularity, the exterior spots give power and length.
The program depends on your starting level, the swell of the week and your desire to discover the coast. We cannot guarantee big waves, but we can put you in the best conditions available and help you progress whatever the swell.
Who is a surf camp in Essaouira for?
The Essaouira surf camp is suitable for beginners who want to learn the basics in a progressive setting, but also for intermediate surfers who want to better read the waves and discover the spots around the city. The bay allows you to work without pressure, then Sidi Kaouki or Imsouane can enter the program when the level and swell allow it.
A good surf camp is not about chasing the most famous spot. It consists of choosing the wave that corresponds to your current progress. Some days, staying in the bay with an instructor is more profitable than an excursion. Other days, heading out early to an outdoor spot provides a session you wouldn't have found alone.
How to structure a typical week
Days 3-4: progression and adjustment
Beginners move on to the first green waves if the pace allows. The middlemen start working bottom turn and direction.
Day 5: excursion depending on conditions
Sidi Kaouki if the swell allows it and your level is suitable. Imsouane if you want a full day on a long wave.
Days 6-7: consolidation
Independent rental if you are comfortable, or additional supervised sessions to refine what is stuck.

Courses for all levels
Basics, take-off, wave reading and first green waves. Group, semi-private or private depending on your preference and budget.
Equipment included
Board and wetsuit adapted to your level included in all our lessons. Rental available independently from €6/h or €20/day.
Surfing excursions
Sidi Kaouki (half day, €30) or Imsouane (full day, €50) depending on the swell window. Transportation included from the club.
Accommodation
Selection of riads between €30 and €110/night. Most of our surf clients prefer the Medina, a 10-15 minute walk from the spot.
The right balance between lessons, rental and excursions
Over a week, we generally alternate between supervised sessions, moments of free practice and an excursion if the conditions are consistent. The courses lay the foundations and correct bad habits. Stand-alone rental allows for rehearsal. Excursions provide new waves, longer or more powerful, but only if they really serve your progress.
This organization avoids transforming the stay into a series of trips. You allow time to recover, figure out what worked, and return to the water with a clear goal. For many students, it's this regularity that makes the difference between taking a few lathers and starting to surf with intention.
