For a kitesurfing, surfing or wingfoil stay in Essaouira, the Medina often remains the best compromise. You are close to restaurants, cafes, the harbour, the ramparts and the local atmosphere in the evenings, whilst still having the beach within walking distance. Most of the selected riads are 10 or 15 minutes from the club, which avoids having to depend on a car for each session.
The important point is not to confuse practical housing with material storage. A room in a riad is not made to accommodate a wet boardbag, a foil, a wing full of sand or several combinations. This is why we almost always recommend the Medina + beach storage combo: you can enjoy the city without transforming your room into a technical room.
A good riding trip in Essaouira is prepared around three simple questions: where to sleep, where to leave the equipment and what slots to sail. If you come to learn, we first look at your discipline, your level and the period. If you are already coming independently, we rather anticipate rental, storage and possible excursions depending on the wind and swell.
When you send us your dates, we can guide you on the neighborhoods, riads, walking distances and planning logic. The goal is not to sell you a rigid package, but to avoid classic mistakes: accommodation too far from the spot, equipment impossible to store, poorly chosen slots or booking courses without taking the wind into account.
Medina riads have narrow staircases and flimsy patios. The solution: Leave it all to the Seagull Club. Our secure storage is in the club, on the beach, about 20 meters from the water. You collect your equipment with the team and return to the riad hands-free.
Our recommendation: Medina + storage with us. The local experience in the evening, the spot just around the corner in the morning.
