Essaouira Bay
Side-shore wind, large beach and conditions suitable for beginners and freeriders. The reference spot for learning and progressing.
Essaouira Bay, Sidi Kaouki and Moulay Bouzerktoun: kitesurfing spots to choose according to your level and conditions.
Essaouira is one of the best kitesurfing spots in Morocco thanks to its regular winds and its large beach. The bay remains the simplest choice for learning, riding safely and progressing. Around Essaouira, Sidi Kaouki and Moulay Bouzerktoun open up more challenging options for independent riders, particularly in waves and downwind.
Understanding the differences between these three areas is the first step to organizing a coherent kitesurfing trip: each spot has its audience, its ideal conditions and its constraints.
Side-shore wind, large fine sand beach without rocks, well-defined areas and easy access: the bay is Essaouira's training spot. This is where all our beginner and intermediate courses take place.
The wind is thermal: it increases gradually in the middle of the day and can reach 25 to 35 knots in summer. The morning is often more affordable (15-20 knots), ideal for beginners. The afternoon attracts freeriders and freestyle riders looking for power.
The launch and landing areas are organized: our team will brief you before your first session on local protocols.
30 minutes south of Essaouira, Sidi Kaouki is a large beach exposed to the Atlantic swell. The beach break is more consistent and more powerful than in the bay. Some days the wind enters more cleanly: interesting for freeride and the first waves.
Ideal for intermediate to advanced riders who want to get out of the bay. Experienced beginners can go with an instructor. Currents present depending on the tide: you must be comfortable managing the board in rough water.
Seagull organizes kitesurfing excursions in Sidi Kaouki (€40 per person, transport included from the club).
North of Essaouira, Moulay is a benchmark wave spot. Powerful wind, clear Atlantic swell, demanding conditions. This is where advanced kitesurfers come for committed wave sessions and solid downwinds.
This spot is not suitable for beginners or intermediates. The currents, the swell and the density of experienced riders require real mastery. If you are not sure of your level, ask us before going there alone.
Seagull organizes downwinds Moulay -> Essaouira (€40 per person, return transport included).
Side-shore wind, large beach and conditions suitable for beginners and freeriders. The reference spot for learning and progressing.
About 30 minutes south, open beach, regular wind and more frequent waves. For intermediates and riders who want more power.
Advanced wave spot in the north, reserved for experienced kitesurfers who master waves and unforeseen situations.
Outing organized according to the wind, the swell and your actual autonomy. We don't go on a downwind with dubious forecasts.
Intermediate to advanced rider: able to go upwind consistently, handle waves of 1 to 1.5 m and safely launch/land alone.
