Traveling with your kitesurfing equipment is heavy, bulky and risky. 2 meter kite covers are not made for airplane holds, and luggage surcharges can quickly exceed the cost of several days of rental. If you are an independent rider, renting on site is often the simplest and most economical decision.
Our rental fleet is maintained and renewed each season. Kites available in several sizes, boards with straps and strapless, harness, bar and wetsuit: everything is prepared and adapted to the local conditions of Essaouira.
How does a kitesurf rental work in Essaouira?
Kitesurf rental in Essaouira always begins with an exchange with the team. You are asked for your weight, your level, the spots where you have already sailed, your comfort in going upwind and your session objective. This is not a formality: the bay can be easy in the morning and more technical when the thermal wind strengthens.
Once the level has been validated, we prepare the kite, bar, harness, board and wetsuit. We check with you the wing size, the safety system, the riding zone and the priority rules. Level required to rent independently
Kitesurf rental without supervision is reserved for independent riders. Concretely, you must be able to launch and land your kite safely, alone or with a beach assistant; go upwind constantly; change direction properly; know the priority rules on water; activate your safety system (bar + chicken loop) in the event of a problem.
If you are not yet at this level, start with our kitesurfing lessons. A few sessions are often enough to achieve bay autonomy.
What size kite to rent depending on the wind in Essaouira
There is no one size fits all for Essaouira kitesurfing. In high season, the wind can start moderate in the morning then increase strongly in the early afternoon. A rider weighing 70 to 80 kg can sail in 9 or 11 m² on a milder morning, then need a 7 or 8 m² if the thermal really sets in. The choice also depends on the board, your level and your power tolerance.
This is precisely the advantage of renting from the club: you don't spend your entire day on the wrong wing. We choose a consistent size with you at the start, then the exchange remains possible depending on availability if conditions change. You keep a margin of safety and you ride with equipment adapted to the actual spot, not just a weather forecast.
Kite swap and breakage insurance
The wind in Essaouira can vary significantly between morning and afternoon. If you are out with a 9 m² and the wind really picks up after 1 p.m., you come back to the beach and we will exchange the kite for you depending on the availability of the park: at no additional cost. You always ride with the correct size.
We offer you breakage insurance when you pick up the equipment. A foil that hits a sandbank, a torn wing on a piece of debris, a board smashed in waves: it happens even to experienced riders. Insurance covers accidental damage so you ride with peace of mind. Without insurance, the damage is your responsibility.
Kitesurf rental or lessons: how to choose
If you go upwind without difficulty, you know how to manage your safety and you know the priorities, the rental is coherent. If you are still tacking downwind, if your waterstart is unstable or if you have never sailed in a busy bay, a targeted course will be more cost effective than a standalone rental. You will progress faster and you will avoid spending the session struggling.
Many riders choose a mixed formula: a first coaching session to understand the bay, then rental over the following days. This approach is particularly useful in Essaouira, because the wind, chop and crowds can surprise even kitesurfers who are already successful at other spots.

Book in high season and avoid unpleasant surprises
In July-August, the most popular sizes go quickly, especially the intermediate wings used by the majority of riders. If you want to rent several days, send your dates, weight and level in advance. We can tell you what is available, what sizes to plan for and whether a visit to the club the day before is preferable.
Out of season, a WhatsApp message the day before is often enough, but the weather remains the main factor. We prefer to confirm a consistent rental the same morning rather than promising a session when the wind forecast does not correspond to the rider's level. It's a more honest way of working, and above all safer.

When you go on a kitesurf rental in Essaouira, you sail on a shared spot. The bay welcomes schools, independent riders, wingfoilers, surfers and sometimes swimmers near the edge. Before leaving, we remind you of the areas to favor, the distances to keep and the simple rules that avoid conflicts: do not stay in the course area, announce changes of direction, look downwind before relaunching the wing.
This reading of the body of water is as important as the choice of equipment. An autonomous rider must know when to return, when to change wings and when not to insist. If the wind gets too strong or the bay gets too busy, returning to the club to adjust the session is always a better decision than forcing it.
Return to the club, check-up and preparation for the next day
At the end of the session, you return to the club with the equipment for a quick check. We check the wing, the bar, the lines, the board, the harness and the wetsuit. This passage allows you to immediately identify a problem, discuss the conditions you encountered and prepare for what comes next if you rent for several days.
For kitesurfing stays in Essaouira, this monitoring is valuable. The next day's wind may require another size, a spot may become more interesting, or your fatigue may warrant a shorter session. Rental then becomes a supported service, not just a delivery of equipment.
